COURSE OVERVIEW

Building on the fundamentals covered in the Level 1 Handgun Course, this 3-hour intermediate class is designed for those who are comfortable with their handgun and ready to advance their skills. The focus is on improving accuracy, speed, and efficiency through dynamic drills and advanced techniques. Students will learn how to handle various malfunctions, perform reloads, and develop a tactical mindset for real-world scenarios.
COURSE Content:
1. Introduction to Rifles
•Types of rifles: bolt-action, semi-automatic, and others
•Basic components and functions of a rifle
•Ammunition basics: types, storage, and handling
2. The Four Rules of Gun Safety
•Treat all guns as if they are always loaded
•Never point the gun at anything you are not willing to destroy
•Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target
•Be sure of your target and what is beyond it
3. The 8 Fundamentals of Rifle Marksmanship
•Stance: Achieving a stable and supported shooting position
•Sight Alignment: Correct alignment of front and rear sights
•Sight Picture: Ensuring a clear view of the target
4. Rifle Handling Skills
•Safe handling and transportation of rifles
•Loading and unloading procedures
•Basic maintenance and cleaning of rifles
5. Range Safety and Etiquette
•Understanding range commands and signals
•Importance of personal protective equipment (PPE)
•Awareness of surroundings and fellow shooters
6. Tactical Mindset
• Developing situational awareness
• Understanding the importance of mental preparation
Practical exercises:
Students will engage in dry fire and live fire exercises to practice the fundamentals of rifle marksmanship and handling. The course emphasizes safe, deliberate practice under the guidance of experienced instructors.
What to bring:
• Rifle: A functional rifle (if you do not own one, rentals may be available)
• Ammunition: Minimum of 75 rounds (quality factory-loaded ammunition recommended)
• Eye and Ear Protection: safety glasses and hearing protection
• Proper Attire: Closed-toe shoes, comfortable clothing suitable for the range
• Additional Items: Water, notepad, and pen for notes
